afccommunity15-content-football-participationAFCCT has significantly increased football participation programmes in the area, catering for children aged 3 upwards, people living with disability and individuals from ethnic and religious minorities. Utilising their Scottish FA Football Development Officers, AFCCT enhance local grassroots football and now facilitate primary school football league activity in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

Advanced Skills Centres
The aim of the Advanced Skills Centres is to lay stronger foundations at grassroots level & to improve the technical ability of youngsters throughout the North East of Scotland. The programme is run for boys & girls aged 7-9, for more information email

Junior Match Day Club
Children aged 5-12 can join Junior Match Day Club & receive an hour of coaching at Aberdeen Sports Village prior kick-off, AFCCT staff then take everyone to Pittodrie to watch the match. To book your place please contact the Pittodrie Ticket Office on 01224 631903 or for more information email
LAC Learning Disability Football
This football initiative delivered by AFCCT is for young adults with additional support needs, encouraging them to be more active and take part in fun based football sessions. For more information email

Midnight Leagues
The Midnight League is a 5-a-side football initiative designed to keep youngsters off the street & out of trouble on Saturday nights. The programme is open to boys & girls aged 12-16. For more information email

Red Start
The Red Start programme aims to combine football, fitness & fun for children of primary school age. The exciting new initiative is designed to engage 20 schools across the North East of Scotland in healthy activities.The programme aims to provide a whole school approach where all pupils from each of the selected schools benefit from taking part in a variety of activity sessions, appropriate for each age & ability over a 6-week period. Red Start has been introduced not only to encourage children to engage in physical activity but to signpost them to opportunities within their local area & get them involved in sport. School of Football
School of Football is a project aimed at developing the social & academic skills of young people. The initiative is designed on the basis that the pupils will learn many new skills that will be developed while working in a football environment which can then be transferred to school work & social situations. School of Football also aims to improve the attendance of school pupils as well as developing them into positive role models in the school community. For more information email

School Visits
AFCCT visits a number of primary and secondary schools each year to deliver our own specialised coaching sessions throughout Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. These visits provide structured football coaching sessions for boys and girls to participate in, with the emphasis on fun, maximum participation and promoting a healthy lifestyle. SFA 2020 Development
SFA 2020 Development is an additional coaching session over and above provision provided by the clubs for talented p6&7 pupils to create a pathway to the Performance Schools. For more information email

Tesco Bank
The Tesco Bank Football Challenge is a four-year community programme run in partnership with the Scottish FA. The six-week programme is delivered in schools across Aberdeen City & Aberdeenshire for children in P2&3. For more information email

Walking Football
AFCCT coaches deliver weekly walking football sessions in Aberdeen for over 35s, over 65s & women passionate about playing the game. The initiative is a fun, social & friendly approach to the game & is suitable for anyone who cannot manage the impact of a standard game, but still has the drive to stay fit & healthy through football. Walking football is a growing sport around the country & is ideal for older participants & those aiming to get in better shape. All the rules are the same but no running! For more information email
