Local organisations nominated to benefit from can collections at Pittodrie
In addition to charitable donations, Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) and Aberdeen Football Club accommodate registered local charities and community groups by facilitating can collections on matchday at Pittodrie Stadium to raise much needed funds and awareness.
During the 2017/18 season over £17,000 was raised for local causes and it is hoped that during 2018/19 the overall amount raised can be increased as well as introducing equity to the nominated organisations.
The can collection process is now coordinated by AFCCT with official AFCCT volunteers carrying out the collections on matchdays. All funds raised from the collections will be split between AFCCT and the nominated charities at the end of the 2018/19 season.

| Aberdeen Action on Disability | We are a user led, voluntary organisation, founded in 1992, providing advice and support to people with physical and sensory disabilities. Our aim is to support disabled persons to achieve equality of opportunity, and overcome social isolation. We provide a comprehensive benefits advise service, information and a meeting place for social contact and activities.

| Aberdeen Care & Repair Group | Funds are raised to assist older and disabled people remain living independently within their own home, by providing small grants for essential repairs or work in relation to safety and security. Equipment is provided ‘free’ of charge to older people, people with disabilities and/or long term health problems living in Aberdeen. This could be grab rails, motion sensory lights etc

| Aberlour Childrens Charity | Aberlour support vulnerable children and families across Scotland and have very well embedded services in Aberdeen. Our Family team help parents with learning difficulties provide the best possible care for their children and works with a variety of other families and our Options Service make life easier for families where a child has a disability.

| Absafe | We are the North-East of Scotland’s only charity dedicated to safety education. Our methods are engaging, interactive and most importantly, fun. We teach the basics of personal safety from our interactive facility in Aberdeen, The Safe, to ensure no one learns about safety by accident. We’re with you throughout your safety journey, from the classroom to the workplace.

| Befriend a Child | Our motto is ‘turn a frown upside down’. We support school-aged children growing up in and around Aberdeen in disadvantaged circumstances. Typically, their childhood years have been neglected due to difficult and chaotic situations at home. They are not problem children, but children with problems which they are not responsible for. We match them with trained volunteers who deliver 1:1 befriending and mentoring services. Over time, this has a transformational effect. A recent report identified 8,000 local children in scope for our support. For every £1 we receive we deliver over £6 of benefits to the children and families involved.

| Charlie House | Charlie House is a local Aberdeen-based charity established in 2011. We provide specialist support to children and young people with complex disabilities and life-limiting conditions, and their families, in the North-east of Scotland. The services we offer provide practical and emotional support to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the families to help them maintain positive relationships and to enhance their quality of life and their ability to cope with the challenges they face during their child’s life journey. Over the past year Charlie House has supported 86 local families.

| CLAN Cancer Support | CLAN Cancer Support is a well-established, local charity providing emotional and practical support to people affected by cancer, their family, carers and friends.Services are freely offered to all from pre-diagnosis and diagnosis through treatment and beyond at 11 support and wellbeing centres located across north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.

| Friends of the Neonatal | We support the Neonatal unit at Aberdeen Maternity hospital. Unfortunately some babies are born either too sick or too soon and are in need of some extra special care in the neonatal unit, no matter the outcome there are often many challenges the families and babies face. Since 1984 Friends of the Special Nursery has helped hundreds of families through these difficult times. Many will only spend a few days in the unit, while others need to stay longer to receive specialist care. As this can be a difficult time emotionally, physically and financially for any family, we try and support when we can. All money raised for Friends of the Special Nursery is used to benefit babies and their families during their stay in the neonatal unit.

| Grampian Deaf Childrens Society | We are a local charity, operating in NE Scotland, supporting deaf and hearing impaired children and young people, and their families, providing activities and events for young people as well as emotional and practical support. We are run entirely by volunteers and our trustees are all either parents of deaf children or deaf young people. As such, all money we raise goes directly towards providing support, activities, events, technology, information etc for our service users.

| Grampian Hospital Radio | We are an award winning radio station broadcasting to Aberdeen Rotal Infirmary, Aberdeen Maternity Hospital, Roxburghe House and Aberdeen Royal Children™s Hospital. We are a voluntary organisation, a registered charity, and a member of the Hospital Broadcasting Association. GHR has no paid employees and exists solely on the generosity of sponsors and donations received.

| Hamish Dears Warm Hugs | Hamish Dear’s Warm Hugs aims to keep children smiling through their toughest battles by providing days out and gifts or/and funding towards short-breaks. Currently children aged 0 – 19 years being treated in Aberdeen or Glasgow can apply. We also provide entertainment to the wards. The charity is based on our experience of having a child with a cancer diagnosis and is in memory of Hamish.

| Instant Neighbour | We are a charity based in Aberdeen city, supporting those on low incomes to set up home, by asking for donations of good quality furniture and selling it at low cost in our shops. Income generated from the sales in shops goes towards supporting our charitable work. Our food bank is busier than ever, in 2017 we handed out over 2,000 parcels to those most in need.

| Me Too! | Me Too! was founded in Summer 2015, by a local parent, frustrated with the fragmentation of information in Aberdeen City and Shire when looking for activities for her disabled son. The idea was to produce a free, quarterly “What’s On” Guide for her community. Today, Me Too! Magazine distributes to a readership of 28,500 in North East Scotland and is widely recognised as the leading organisation of “Relaxed Sessions” in the area – making events and sessions accessible to people who may otherwise find it challenging due to sensory considerations.

| North East Sensory Services | NESS are a local independent Aberdeen based charity who’s main aim is to “Achieve Independence for Blind and Deaf People”. This is done by running a number of services from our Young People’s Sensory Service to self-help groups for the elderly.

| Northsound Cash for Kids | Cash for Kids fundraises to provide help and support to sick, disabled and underprivileged children in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. We provide children with basic essentials such as clothes, beds and bedding, specialist equipment for children with special needs and support many groups who provide support and activities for children in very deprived local areas.

| Station House Media Unit (SCHMU) | SCHMU supports residents in the seven regeneration areas of Aberdeen in radio and video production, traditional and on-line publications, music production and digital inclusion. The organisation also supports other disadvantaged communities, both geographics and communities of interest, with an employability and training arm as well as a programme for offenders, both pre and post release.

| Sunrise Partnership | Sunrise Partnership offers a free, confidential service for children and young people up to age 18 across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire who have been affected by loss and bereavement. The charity’s aim is to help children and young people to deal with loss and the death of a significant person from their lives in a healthy and positive way.

| The Cornerstone Foundation | The Cornerstone Foundation has been set up to enable us to support more people with disabilities and support needs to lead the best life possible. Together we can transform lives.

| The Living Well Project | The Living Well Project was set up in 2010, with the aim of supporting isolated and vulnerable people in the community of North Aberdeen. We offer a Befriending Service where volunteers are matched with an older person affected by isolation and loneliness and visit them on a regular basis for social contact and companionship. We also run the Living Well Cafés which provide social support for those affected by memory loss and dementia, their families and carers. We currently have four cafés around the city which run on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Today VSA provides vital support and services to people of all ages across four core areas: Children and Families; Adult and Community; Education and Learning; and Carers Support. |
