Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) is delighted to have been chosen by Newmachar United FC (NUFC) as their nominated charity. This will see 10% of all NUFC’s club fundraising efforts donated to the Community Trust.

NUFC FC and AFCCT have previously worked together on fundraising, putting on a highly successful 3 Decades of the Dons event, a Q&A session with former players Joe Harper, Willie Falconer, and Steve Tosh. This raised over £2,000 and was split between the Club and the Trust.

The event was held at the Newmachar Hotel who also helped support the organisations by providing the Christmas lunches at a reduced rate.

Kerry Caird, Fundraising Coordinator at Newmachar United FC said “This partnership has come about through our relationship with Debra Christie and off the back of our very successful event in December at the 3 Decades of the Dons event.

“The executive committee then met in January and decided that given our football connections, our connection with Debra and that we were able to raise a significant amount for the club it was proposed that we would support AFCCT and donate 10% of any club fundraising that we do going forward.

“I think it’s important that a club like Newmachar show that we’re trying to give back to the community that we represent as well, that we’re promoting the health and wellbeing of the kids and of the families in the area.”

Brian Johnston, Quality Mark/Coach Coordinator and member of the executive committee for Newmachar United FC said ‘Being a community coach with AFCCT I see first-hand where money raised goes across all the projects that AFCCT are involved with in both Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire. It is great that our Club has nominated AFCCT as partner charity as this will help them continue to deliver meaningful projects across the region and we are more than happy to help in a small way to let people from all walks of life and all ages feel healthier and included through football.’

Aberdeen FC Community Trust Fundraising and Business Development Co-ordinator Debra Christie added; “We’re delighted that Newmachar United FC have chosen us as their nominated charity. We’ve worked together previously on a fundraising event which was hugely beneficial to both parties and this will allow us to continue to work together and pool our resources to the benefit of both Newmachar United and AFCCT.

“We are always more than happy to work with community clubs throughout the north east and assist with any fundraising activities that will see resources go back into the communities they represent.”
