The Vattenfall Award of the Month recognises outstanding commitment to the girls’ game from an individual, whether that be a player, coach or volunteer.

For the month of June, AFCCT are recognising and awarding 2 winners for the very first time!

Lucia Wood

Lucia currently plays for West End Girls, moving between their U9 & U11 age groups. As well as playing regularly within the Girls League, Lucia has also been participating in the AFCCT Girls Advanced Centre, providing additional skills coaching on a weekly basis.

Laura Whitfield, lead coach at the AFCCT Girls Advanced Centre, was delighted to hear of this achievement “Lucia has shown one of the biggest improvements over this past term. She came into the programme and relied on her sister quite a lot initially. It took a little bit of time to grasp the skills, but she has worked so hard to practice and she is now seeing the reward of that hard work. Not only has Lucia developed technically, she has also improved in confidence as a person which is what it is all about.”

Trish Stuart

Trish is currently the secretary of Dyce Girls, supporting club coaches within the AFCCT Girls League. Commenting on Trish’s support to Dyce Girls over the past few years, Tracey McGorrin, Dyce Girls Coach, said “Trish goes above and beyond to make sure football at Dyce takes place without a hitch. She has a great rapport with the girls, is a great asset to Dyce Girls Club and should be recognised for all her efforts.”

“Despite being a busy mother who is in employment, Trish oversees everything from communicating with parents, liaising with other teams, organising team and player registration and assisting in trips away for the girls. Trish has certainly fought the corner for the girls to ensure they are treated equally and fairly across the club, where we now have a thriving girls and boys section.”

Congratulations to Lucia & Trish from everyone here at Aberdeen FC Community Trust!
