New Community Lottery Launched!
Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) is excited to announce the launch of a brand-new online community lottery scheme which will see funds raised help the charity to provide further support and opportunity throughout the North-East.
Supporters can sign-up to support Aberdeen FC’s award-winning partner charity for just £1 per week and will be in with a chance of winning some fantastic prizes each Saturday including a top prize of £25,000, with the first draw set to take place on Saturday 10th August!
AFCCT aims to provide support and opportunity to change lives for the better throughout the North-East. The charity celebrated it’s 5th birthday this year and engaged with over 20,000 participants during the 2018/19 season, tallying up a total of almost 1 million participations since 2014, an 86% increase in participations year on year!
AFCCT’s Dementia Friendly programmes attract more than 300 participants per week, with over 100 participants living with Dementia. The programmes involve activities designed to increase mobility and social inclusion, as well as reducing isolation and anxieties for those living with the condition.
The programmes also allow carers to get involved or take the opportunity to get some respite from the 24‐hour care that people living with Dementia require.
In 2017 Aberdeen FC Community Trust secured international recognition, winning the European Club Association award for the Best Community Trust and Social Responsibility Programme award for its Dementia Friendly Programme.
An independent awards panel with representatives from UEFA and the European Football Development Network (EFDN) found that the uniqueness of the programme was what made AFCCT and Aberdeen FC stand out from the rest of the European Clubs.
Former Scotland and Aberdeen manager Craig Brown, now an ambassador for Aberdeen FC Community Trust was present at the launch and commented said, “The work done by the Community Trust is enormous and the local community really benefit from it. With the lottery in place this is a chance for the community to give something back!
“Without contributions and without people the Community Trust would not be able to continue providing award winning initiatives like the Dementia programme.
“I would encourage everyone to give a thought towards the lottery as it will be very much appreciated by all at the Trust.”
Funds raised from the lottery will go towards helping AFCCT to provide lunch for those living with Dementia who attend the Boogie in the Bar social inclusion programme, as well as tea, coffee and biscuits for participants who attend the health walks and training for new volunteers to support AFCCT staff deliver Dementia friendly community programmes plus much more!
