It is with deep sadness the Club announces its dear friend and Chairman of AFC Community Trust (AFCCT), Duncan Skinner, has passed away.

During the last year Duncan has bravely fought his illness, whilst remaining committed to the progress of both the Trust and the Club.

A Chartered Management Accountant, Duncan spent 35 years in the oil and gas sector, before dedicating his time to social enterprise and charity work.

An avid Aberdeen supporter, Duncan became Chairman of AFC Community Trust at its inception in 2014, before joining the AFC Board as a Non-Executive Director in 2015.

A talented, enthusiastic, and hard-working man, who was a friend to many, Duncan was passionate about changing people’s lives for the better.

AFC Chairman, Dave Cormack, has spoken of his sorrow at Duncan’s passing, which will be felt profoundly by all that knew him.

“Everyone at the Club and Trust is devastated by the loss of Duncan.

“As Chairman of the AFC Community Trust and as a Board Director for a number of years, Duncan brought positivity, desire, a keen business acumen and a love for life that was infectious.

“I was fortunate to speak with him just over a week ago and he told me how proud he was of the Club and the work it does alongside AFCCT in the North East.

“A real dandy, he will be a huge loss to us all.”

James Knowles, Acting Chair of AFCCT, added: “Duncan was a wonderful character who will be sadly missed by many however, his legacy will live on within AFC Community Trust.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this incredibly sad time.
