Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes

Aberdeen FC Community Trust and TauRx, a global leader in tau-based Alzheimer’s disease research, have partnered to host a ‘Memory Walk’ in support of Alzheimer Scotland and World Alzheimer’s Month in September.

The memory walk will bring together local life sciences companies, dementia charities and the community to show support for those living with dementia across the North East of Scotland.

Taking place in Duthie Park on Sunday 18 September, the walk will start at 11am outside the botanical gardens and is free for people of all ages and abilities to attend.

Rebecca Andersen, Head of Commercial and Communications at TauRx, said: “As two organisations working to improve the lives of those living with dementia, joining forces with AFC Community Trust gives us a great opportunity to use our platform to raise awareness and help to amplify the voice of the dementia community, both in Aberdeen and further afield.

“We’ve been extremely impressed by the dementia initiatives run by the Trust, such as its Active Ageing Programme, and we look forward to developing this partnership and running more joint activities to support those living with dementia in the region.”

Debra Christie, Team Lead – Community, Health & Wellbeing, at Aberdeen FC Community Trust, commented: “Working in collaboration with local organisations helps to provide a strong variety of activities. We are delighted to include the Memory Walk and anyone who would like to walk alongside us is very welcome.

We appreciate the opportunity to raise awareness of our activities we currently offer and encourage anyone who is interested to contact us. Our activities enhance positive experiences for people living with dementia as well as increasing their support network.”

TauRx has also set up a fundraising page, raising money to provide support for those affected by dementia and their families across Scotland: https://memorywalk.alzscot.org/taurxteam
