Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) is pleased to announce a partnership with KR Group Scotland to support the Primary Schools Football Programme.

Open to all primary schools in the Northeast, teams take part in fixtures and festivals on a Saturday morning throughout the school year at Cormack Park and school venues.  With a focus on participation, inclusion and fun, the games provide a safe, enjoyable, trophy free environment.  Over the years, it has become the sole primary school football league within Aberdeen City.

The participating teams from Primary 3 and 4 compete in a round robin festival every Saturday at Aberdeen Football Club’s training ground, Cormack Park.  Primary 5 to primary 7 teams compete in weekly fixtures, hosted by the schools.

Established in 2003 by Kenny Robertson, KR Group, previously known as KR Steel, is a steel and cladding company. With two decades of experience, the KR Group serves various sectors, including commercial, agricultural, domestic, and educational enterprises.

Kenny Robertson, KR Group Managing Director and Nicola Fraser, Business Director, are very enthusiastic about the collaboration.  They said:

“AFCCT Primary Schools Football is a local initiative, which is open to all children and young people.  The aim is to help provide a healthy hobby for young people, which supports physical and mental health and wellbeing… raising self-esteem and promoting resilience. KRG and AFCCT have a shared ethos of inclusivity and strive for equity of opportunity.

We have links with numerous local football clubs and support many young people in sport through sponsorship etc, so to extend this to AFCCT seems like a good fit for us.  We are looking forward to a positive year of football and getting along to watch some of the games to cheer on determined faces with rosy, red cheeks over the winter and also hope to support work in schools with groups where we can”.

Kieran Hamill, Football Development Officer, also shared his insights, commenting, “I am absolutely delighted that KR group has chosen to sponsor our Primary Schools Football Programme, this is an incredibly exciting partnership and I’m immensely grateful to KRG for their support.

“This collaboration will allow our programme to grow and allow more children opportunities to play football.”
