The Pittodrie Community Hub celebrates 100 sessions!
In 2023, Aberdeen FC Community Trust (AFCCT) teamed up with The SPFL Trust to provide support & opportunity to the local community through the Winter Support Fund. The first Pittodrie Community Hub (hub) ran in February 2023 and has since become a flagship programme for AFCCT, welcoming over 60 people weekly to Pittodrie.
The hub runs every Thursday from 12.30pm to 3.30pm and is free to attend whether it is a one off or weekly drop-in. Although first developed for winter support, the hub continues to provide support all year round with hot meals, tea, coffee and snacks. It also connects participants with local organisations that can provide advice on various topics, such as housing, pensions, health, and social care. In partnership with the local charity, CFine, AFCCT also distributes soup and fruit packs to extend support beyond the hub.
Not only does the hub provide vital support but it has also become a social space for people to interact with others and even go on to join more AFCCT programmes such as Memories Groups, Health Walks and more. Health and Wellbeing is a key focus for AFCCT and being able to help participants in more than one aspect is vital.
The success of the hub has been recognised nationally with the SPFL Trust and SGN rolling out the Community Hub model to a further ten football clubs in Scotland. The expansion of the concept helps to tackle fuel poverty and provide community points across Scotland.
Since launching over two years ago, the Community Hub is now celebrating its 100th session at Pittodrie and invites everyone to join in the celebration!
