Aberdeen FFIT Legends v Morton Seniors

Estimated Reading Time: 1 minutes

The Legends welcomed Morton Seniors to Aberdeen Snowsports Centre on Saturday 1st June in what was to prove an exciting, high scoring game.

The Legends opened the scoring after only 3 minutes when Ryan Davidson won back possession and raced clear to give The Legends the perfect start. The lead was short lived when Morton equalised on 10 minutes.

The Legends pace advantage was proving crucial as Stuart Hay scored after a long run from left back on 15 minutes and Ryan Davidson again got clear of the Morton defence after 20 minutes to round the goalkeeper and give The Legends a 3-1 lead at half time.

Pawel Groczynski stretched The Legends lead 12 minutes after the break again running clear of the Morton defence. Morton reduced the deficit a minute later to make it 4-2. Pawel Groczynski again scored for The Legends when he managed to drag the ball round the Morton goalkeeper to make it 5-2.

Ryan Davidson got his hat trick on 65 minutes to give The Legends a four goal advantage. Morton refused to lie down though and scored again in 75 and 78 minutes to bring the score back to 6-4. Stuart Hay scored again a minute later when he fired into the Morton net from distance but right from the restart Morton scored to make it 7-5 to the home side. The scoring was completed on 86 minutes when Paul Rooke scored from close in to give The Legends a 8-5 victory.

The match was played in the usual competitive but friendly style of most FFIT matches and huge credit must go to the Morton team for refusing to accept defeat and kept battling right up to the final whistle.
