The Vattenfall Award of the Month recognises outstanding commitment to the girls’ game from an individual, whether that be a player, coach or volunteer.

The winner of the November 2019 Award goes to Sophie Beaton!

Sophie currently plays for Buchan Girls, within their U11s age group, and is one of the youngest players in the side. Training twice per week in Peterhead, the team then travel to Aberdeen every weekend to play 7 aside matches within AFCCT’s Girls League.

Louise Cardno, Coach at Buchan, was delighted to hear that Sophie had won the award;

“Her attitude is brilliant. Sophie always comes with a first-class effort to everything she does, very rarely missing training. Sophie has played in various positions but excels in defence and being our stand in goalkeeper. We just think she’s awesome!”

Sophie’s attitude on and off the pitch was clear to see, with Sophie often the last to leave training after helping the coaches tidy up the equipment at the end of training. Sophie also fundraised and donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, who provide free real hair wigs to children and young people with hair loss, and fund vital research into childhood cancers.

A huge congratulations to Sophie from everyone here at Aberdeen FC Community Trust!
