Support AFCCT’s Community Christmas Campaign

Estimated Reading Time: 2 minutes

This festive season Aberdeen FC Community Trust will be working hard to bring some much-needed cheer to those who need it most across our region with the Community Christmas campaign.

At the height of lockdown, the award winning #StillStandingFree campaign helped thousands of people across the region through food deliveries and phone calls to alleviate their social isolation.

Last year, when we faced a Christmas like no other, our “Calling Home for Christmas” campaign positively touched even more people.

The festive season can often be a difficult time for people in our community and with the continuing uncertainty, many will face a lonely Christmas.

When asked to explain the reasoning behind this year’s Community Christmas campaign, AFCCT’s Chief Executive, Liz Bowie commented, “A lot of our programmes had to stop due to COVID but we are starting back up again with activities like our health walks with our active ageing groups which are great for people’s health both physically and mentally.

“We are self-funded, our work in education and football gets more funding from the likes of the local authority but work like this typically receives less funding so we really need help to try and support all of these people out in the community who wouldn’t normally get access to these types of activities.

“The Red Army are absolutely phenomenal when it comes to supporting the Trust and without their support work like this wouldn’t be possible.”

With your support, AFCCT’s Community Christmas campaign will bring people experiencing social isolation together more frequently and provide opportunities for social interaction and fun. For many participants this can be their only social activity in a whole week.

During 20/21, AFCCT’s work in the community, particularly active ageing programmes, was massively curtailed by the restrictions.  As these begin to relax, we are keen to restart our programmes in 2022, including our award-winning dementia activities but we cannot do it without you.

With your generous donations our charitable trust can continue to deliver programmes which benefit the whole community by improving both physical and mental wellbeing and impacting positively on all ages whether it’s innovative educational experiences; spreading the joy of football to all; or supporting the elderly with mental wellbeing programmes.
