Local commercial property expert, Iain Landsman has been made an ambassador for Aberdeen Football Club’s charitable trust which delivers programmes and activities to support communities within two key themes: Education and positive destinations/Football, health and wellbeing.

Iain has been a passionate supporter of the Trust for a number of years and has been involved in a number of fundraising initiatives including the Cairngorm Challenge Walk in which Iain led a team including AFCCT Chief Executive Liz Bowie to follow in the footsteps of the late Duncan Skinner (Chairman of the Trust) by taking on the gruelling challenge of walking from Braemar to Aviemore and back via either side of the Lairig Ghru which entailed covering over 40 miles, ticking off 7 munros and all within 24 hours.  The efforts helped the Trust to raise over £100,000 for the Duncan Skinner “Brighter Futures” Legacy Fund.

Iain recently left his role as a director in a corporate property company to set up the commercial property arm of Aberdeen based professional services firm Hutcheon Mearns. He specialises in advising energy sector companies on acquisitions, disposals and rent reviews on their commercial property portfolios. He also advises institutional and property company clients in regards to their property portfolios and single properties.

Commenting on the new appointment, AFCCT Chief Executive Liz Bowie said: “We are thrilled to announce Iain’s new role for the Trust. His breadth of experience, wealth of contacts and boundless enthusiasm will be a positive addition to the Trust, helping us to further raise awareness and attract wider financial support to increase our work in the community and support our long-term sustainability.”

Iain added, “My involvement in the Trust stems back to when I was on the council at Deeside Golf Club during Duncan Skinner’s tenure as Club Captain. Duncan had an incredible warmth and enthusiasm and his passion for helping those in need was infectious.  We used to share tails of adventures up in the mountains and I was always a bit in awe as to his escapades. He would also speak fondly of the work AFCCT were doing and the difference their out-reach was making here in our local community.”

“Given the level of prosperity in the city due to the Energy Sector it’s fundamentally wrong that there are still children in and around Aberdeen who don’t get a warm meal every day. We need to do more as a community to support these families, particularly now with the escalating costs of living, and AFCCT are an amazing vehicle to support this. I would encourage anyone who has the means to offer support to do so. As the saying goes, a little goes a long way!”

Teaming up with AFCCT Trustee Mark Wilson, in addition to charity walks the pair have organised golf outings and more recently hosted a business lunch in honour of Craig Brown CBE which was based on a “This is Your Life” theme.

Iain’s appointment sees him join fellow Trust ambassadors Paralympian gold medallists Neil and Lora Fachie and AFC fans favourite Jonny Hayes.
